Dr McDonald is a Consultant Dermatologist based in the South-Eastern Health and Social Care Trust. She graduated in medicine from Queen’s University Belfast in 2005. During undergraduate training, she undertook an additional research-based Intercalated Degree and was awarded a First-Class Honours BSc in Therapeutics and Pharmacology in 2003.
Dr McDonald completed higher specialist training in Dermatology in the Northern Ireland Deanery and is Lead Clinician for the Northern Ireland Regional Laser Service based at the Ulster Hospital. She treats patients of all ages and has experience in assessment and management of inflammatory skin conditions, skin cancer and other lesions. She undertakes a variety of dermatological procedures including skin biopsy, cryotherapy and surgical excision/removal of lesions.
Dr McDonald obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Education with distinction (QUB 2013), is a trainer recognised by the GMC and is involved in the teaching and supervising of doctors-in-training. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at both national and international meetings. She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists, Irish Association of Dermatologists, British Society for Dermatological Surgery, British Cosmetic Dermatology Group, British Medical Laser Association and is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
