Upon finishing dental General Professional Training in the Northern Ireland scheme he graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh with Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons.
Continuing to work solely within the field of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery he spent a number of years in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne developing surgical skills and a more intimate appreciation of head and neck pathology. After returning to Northern Ireland to complete a medical degree and Foundation Training Mr Johnston graduated from the Royal College of Surgeons England with Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons.
He continued his basic surgical training in Northern Ireland and is specialising in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery which incorporates the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.
Mr Johnston has a keen interest in clinical teaching, achieving a PG Diploma in Clinical Education. He continues to support and teach undergraduate students from Queens University Belfast and University of Ulster.
